Redland Cambrian Reconstituted Slate Roof Tile - 300mm x 336mm (Pack of 10)

Redland Cambrian Reconstituted Slate Roof Tiles are high performance, weatherproof and attractive roof tiles that give you all the natural appeal and charm of natural slates. Made in Wales from over 60% recycled Welsh slate, these Cambrian slates are not only light in weight and easy to install using the unique and secure three point fixing system, they're also great for pitches as low as 15° degrees. 

Cambrian Slates have been rigorously tested in our wind tunnel where combinations of high wind and driving rain are used to determine the slate's performance with respect to wind loading and weathertightness. Cambrian Slates will meet the requirements of BS 5534: 2014 Code of practice for slating and tiling (including shingles), providing our fixing recommendations are complied with.

As there is no British standard for Cambrian Slate, it has been designed to meet the relevant performance requirements of BS 5534: 2014 Code of practice for slating and tiling (including shingles). Cambrian has been awarded British Board of Agrement Certificate 87/1907.

Installation

• Slates must be laid in a broken bond pattern from right to left
• Slates must be hung on their nibs
• It is always advised that slates are laid at mid shunt, although the precise roof details may require slates to be laid more open or closed
• When laid at mid shunt, slates will have +/- 2.5 mm of shunt to provide laying flexibility
• At left hand verges use LH Verge Slates and LH Verge Slate-and-a-Halves in alternate courses
• At right hand verges use standard slates and Slate-and-a-Halves in alternate courses
• For rafter pitches below 45° with hips constructed with Cambrian Mitred Hip, Double Slates will be required for raking cuts on every course on both sides of the hip. At pitches greater than this Slate-and-a-Halves can be used
• For rafter pitches below 25° with all valleys or hips covered in hip tiles, Double Slates will be required for raking cuts on every course on both sides of the valley or hip. At pitches greater than this Slate-and-a-Halves can be used
• At side abutments, allow for a cover flashing and secret gutter
• Individual slates must be nailed & clipped (screwed and clipped in extreme exposure)
• Always refer to FixMaster for a BS 5534-compliant fixing specification
• When nailing (or screwing), two nails (or screws) must be used per slate
• At verges, valleys and around roof features, all perimeter slates must be clipped using verge clips
